Last week, I had my first tennis lesson. This is a 5 week class through Northampton Community College. I signed up for tennis lessons as I thought I would benefit from some stroke instruction and some solid time spent on the court. However, it seems that this class will not have as much direct instruction as I was hoping for. In the first lesson, I was about 1/2 hour late. I arrived and began hitting forehand shots across the net from a High School Senior.. I actually spent the majority of the first hour chasing the balls that he was able to get over the net, and unfortunately I was not all that much better than he was.
The second part of the lesson was spent playing king/queen of the court. The two people who were chosen as king and queen were not able to be ousted, and so the remainder of the lesson was spent trying to play this game.
Tomorrow is the second lesson and so we shall see if there is more direct instruction. And if I an actually increase my tennis playing skills.
